Qatayef is one of the most famous oriental desserts in Ramadan. If you are a fan of Qatayef, we have here new filling suggestions for various tastes:
Qatayef with mixed nuts; pistachio, almond or hazelnut will make it amazing. Do not forget to add two tablespoons of honey to the filling. It can be refrigerated till you cook.
Either fill Qatayef with chocolate or garnish it with chocolate sauce after stuffing it with nuts, for example.
Prepare green apples same way as the apple pie, peel and slice thin slices, add sugar and heat till caramelized, let it to cool then use to fill Qatayef.
For cheese lovers, have you tried Qatayef filling with white or spread cheese, garnish it with syrup. It will be exceptional.
Use cream with flavours such as bananas and strawberries, add some coconut or cinnamon, fry and serve warm.
Qishta (Cooked Cream)
Add 3 tablespoons of corn flour to four cups of milk, put on the fire, stir the mixture and add 3/4 cup of sugar and a tablespoon of blossom water, until mixture is clotted like cream. Add ground pistachios, let it cool and fill Qatayef.
Many like savory fillings for Qatayef like akawi cheese, herbs, fresh thyme, dill and parsley, minced meat with onions or chicken and vegetables. Savory Qatayef would be served as a side dish.
You can cool and freeze Qatayef with nuts, after filling and closing it well, but Qatayef with other fillings should be made immediately before serving.
