Colds and flu happen in all seasons. To protect you against cold, doctors always recommend staying hydrated especially to drink hot drinks.
New research by Cardiff University’s Common Cold Centre has found that a simple hot drink of fruit cordial can provide immediate and sustained relief from symptoms.
Here are some tasty, yet healthy hot drinks that are the perfect against colds.
Hot Orange Beverage with Spice
Heat a cup of orange juice, 30 ml water, 1/2 tsp ginger, 2 cloves, 1 cinnamon stick and 1 star anise. Remove from the heat and stir in 2 tsp of honey and drink warm
Almond Milk Chai Latte
Warm 2 cups of milk, then add 2 tea bags, add 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 5 cloves, and little of ground nutmeg, sweeten with honey and serve warm.
Heat 1 cup of milk, stir in 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ginger, and 1 tsp honey until well mixed and drink warm.
Apple Cider Toddy
Heat 1/2 cup of apple cider, 1 tsp lemonJ juice, 2 tsp honey, and 1 cinnamon stick then reduce heat and simmer for about five minutes. Remove from heat, stir and serve immediately.
Fresh Mint Tea
In a teapot, add 2 handful mint leaves and 2 cups of boiled water. Leave for about 5 minutes, sweeten to taste and drink.
