Sobiya A Traditional Drink in Ramadan

To cope with the long hours of fasting in Ramadan, it is essential to take care of body fluids, stay hydrated and drink more water and juices from Iftar till Suhoor.

One of the traditional Ramadan drinks that can keep you feeling refreshed is Sobiya.

Benefits of Sobiya include that it helps reduce blood cholesterol and fermentation process of Sobiya gives it a good percentage of acidity with lactic acid.

It is prepared with barley or raisins with some sugar, cinnamon and some edible colors as Sobiya is known for its color.

Raisins Sobiya

Ingredients:

1½ cup black raisins

1 tbsp white oats

½ cup sugar

½ tsp cinnamon

1 tbsp rose water

1/2 cup blueberry nectar

¼ tsp edible colour.

6 cups water.

Method

– On a pot, add 3 cups of water and heat with raisins and oats

– Stir till all are hot, leave it in fridge for 24 hours

– The next day add the rest of ingredients and water

– Mix all in a blender and sift

Drink and enjoy the cold raisins Sobiya
