Bowling The Ancient and Present Game

Are you a fan of Bowling? Do you play Bowling? Do you know about the history of this game? Bowling is a game in which a heavy ball is rolled down a long, narrow lane toward a group of objects known as pins aiming to knock down more pins than your rivals.

The earliest form of Bowling dates back to thousands of years to the ancient Egyptians. Throughout the years, the game developed to the form that we know know which emerged around mid-1830s.

Rules of Bowling

A game of bowling consists of ten frames. In each frame, the bowler has two chances to knock down as many pins as possible with the bowling ball. If a bowler is able to knock down all ten pins with the first ball, he is awarded a strike. If the bowler is able to knock down all 10 pins with the two balls of a frame, it is known as a spare and bonus points are awarded for both of these. If the bowler knocks down all 10 pins in the tenth frame, the bowler is allowed to throw 3 balls for that frame. A perfect game would have a maximum score of 300 points.

Scoring

In general, one point is scored for each pin that is knocked over. When a player fails to knock down all ten pins after the second ball it is known as an open frame.
